AW/SM5/L17413 Re Throttle Diaphragm - X.332. Mr Elliott 17-4-13 Mr Dalley In reply to your instruction sheet 10254 (16/4/13) Mr Haldenby replies to:- Question 1. "This is a matter for experiment. We "require special diaphragms if this "is to be carried out. Question 2. "I have previously made tests in "this direction and came to the "conclusion that a spring did not do "any good. Question 3. "I suggest that this dimension be ".1" with a .005" limit either way. "I have tried a throttle with the "diaphragm in different positions and "find that if the distance in question "is made less than .09" there is a "tendency toward singing. I find on "many of the throttles that the diaphragm "never actually closes up the low speed "snout as the stop on the throttle lever "fouls first. Surely this stop ought "to be removed entirely as it is incor-"rect to limit the throttle movement "at two points. T.S.H." Will you kindly note in future that similar instructions should be addressed to the Experimental Office and not to those in charge of the Exp. shop. p. A.P.Wormald. | ||
