We have received the following cable from RHJ. in U.S.A. -

"BEARING TESTS COMMENCE NEXT WEEK ALLISONS RECOMMEND GROOVELESS BEARINGS SIX OIL HOLES EQUALLY SPACED CIRCUMFERENTIAL OIL FEED GROOVE EXTERNAL DIAMETER LARGE CAPACITY PUMPS GIVING NINETY POUNDS MINIMUM PRESSURE MATERIAL COMPOSITION SEVENTY THIRTY CONNECTING ROD SIXTY FORTY MAIN".

The Lead Bronze mixture we are using at present is 75 Copper/24 Lead/1 Tin. We have made some bearings of the 70/30 mixture. We find this much more difficult to produce although the results obtained are better.

We are proposing to try and make test bearings of the 60/40 mixture as suggested by Coverley.
