USA HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} To E.H. from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}As. re Independent Front Wheel Springing Suspension. Referring to E.H/MP.17.1.34 I am in favour of Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} bringing back a car but I think before we instruct him definitely to bring back any particular car, we ought to wait to hear from him because I understood before he left that this question of independent front springing, which America is making such a prominent feature this year, was one of the most important points that he was to investigate. I think it would be more useful to buy a complete car than a front axle unit only, especially if the car can be what is considered in America to be the most luxurious motor-car made there, as it would then help over SpectreCodename for Phantom III from the point of view of seeing what competition exists in America for the luxury type of car. I agree that we ought to find out what is the patent position with regard to the Mercedes Benz design and I presume that HY{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} will carry on with this as the information would be useful in any case.
