Dear Sirs,

We are obliged to you for your letter of the 8th February.

We note that you are making up an oil pressure ring for testing the rate of the Bellows, and we shall be very interested to hear the results of these tests.

With regard to the length of the bellows we shall certainly be agreeable to alter the limits for the free and solid lengths.

Owing to the flexibility of the bellows and the fact that by a slight modification in rolling, the free length can be altered quite considerably, there is no difficulty in giving you whatever free length you may require, providing that the 1/8" movement is not exceeded. If this movement is exceeded it is possible that the bellows may not spring back to the exact free length.

It was for this reason you will remember that we wrote to you previously pointing out that when testing the bellows they should only be compressed 1/8", and not necessarily until they were solid.

If you do modify the limits on the free length we would suggest that no limit be given on the solid length,
