To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X5430 (Handwritten) S E C R E T. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}4/M30.4.25. I N D I A.{Mr Adams} PIVOT. X.5450 X.5430 We send herewith N.sch. 1991 shewing some modifications to the pivot which have for their object to simplify the machining, especially the profiling of the face for the brake carrier, and also strengthening the connection between the pivot and the boss for the steering lever by cutting away the thin metal of the flange. The pivot is also we think substantially lightened. Since there is alteration to the dies it will not be possible to get this pivot in immediately, but we should like it got in as soon as possible. The moving in of the centres of the brake carrier bolts takes these latter away from the brake pull rod, and should give you a little more lock. Mr. Royce has instructed us to modify for immediate use the side steering lever on the axle, the object being to straighten this lever, as an examination of the model shews this can be done. We shall be sending you this in the course of a day or so. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
