| H.S X7961 S/W. c. to E.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re- Bentley Car B-17-AE- Pass & Joyce. In your memo WorD/R12.1.34. you said you proposed to reply later to certain points raised in Mr.Pass' letter, and I have therefore refrained from writing further to Mr.Pass until I had your remarks. So far I have not had any further communication from you, but if you are proposing to make any comments on his criticisms I would be very glad to have them so that I can reply fully to Mr.Pass. There does not seem very much to comment on, but you might like to make some remarks on the slight uneven running at very low speeds, which Pass says is probably due to high compression. You might also like to remark upon his comments of the gearbox that was changed on his chassis and also concerning the battery and the starting on cold mornings. The brakes we know all about and the headlights we know all about, but we still await news from you as to what you propose to do in regard to the brakes on the second 100. I suppose in the case of continual complaints by people, such as Mr.Pass, you would probably consider it wise to re-line the brakes with Ferodo instead of AMR material, but unless that is in your mind I don't think there is any need to make any further comments to Mr.Pass about his brakes, because he is an experienced driver and knows how to handle them and knows the weakness of brakes which are wet.
