Re. Bentley B-17-AE.

Referring to Mr. Pass's criticisms, -

Slow Running. - We admit that the slow running on the Bentley cannot be considered as good as that on the R.R. This is chiefly due to the type of camshaft we are using on this engine rather than to the compression ratio.

Gear Box. - It is very possible that the gearbox fitted to this car will improve as regards silence with running.

Starting. - The speed at which the starter motor will start the engine on a cold morning is greatly influenced by the type of oil being used. We should be interested to know what oil Mr. Pass was using. We recommend either Mobiloil D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}, Prices C., or XL. We are prepared to admit that we have not very much excess margin on the starting and this is a point which we are hoping to improve.

Brakes. - We have already replied as regards brakes.

Headlamps - In conjunction with Messrs. Lucas we have effected a considerable improvement and have made arrangements with them that lamps which have been supplied will be converted.

We think Mr. Pass's criticisms very good because the points on which he touches are ones which we realise and are hoping to improve.
