Re. Wraith & Bentley Modifications.

With the exception of two, we have now completed the 203 Wraith Chassis which required the stronger type 1st motion shaft to the gear box. With regard to the two exceptions, one is in America and one in Australia, and the necessary material along with the tools required have been despatched for these cars.

In addition to the gear box modification, propeller shafts with larger type universal joints have also been fitted. 190 of these chassis have been fitted with the new cylinder head with modified water passage, and 175 with distributors having correctly hardened cams. Radiator cross stays altered to increase the clearance between fan blades and a number of other smaller modifications were carried out at the same time.

The average time taken per car to carry out these modifications has been 24 hours.

We so arranged this work that in no case have we deprived the customer of the use of his car for a period longer than two days.

With regard to the modification to the steering on Wraith, there were 300 Chassis which required the modified roller fitting, and we have now completed these with the exception of 24. All these 24 customers have been requested to allow us to have their cars so we may carry out this modification and we are now awaiting their convenience. They are coming into the Works for modification at the rate of two to three per day.

The average time taken to carry out this modification has been 9 1/2 hours, and we so arranged that if a customer brought his car to the works in the morning, he was able to leave with the car completed, in the afternoon of the same day.
