X.6016. TRIAL RESISTANCE FOR HALF CHARGE.

Will you please arrange to have made up one resistance of 2'1" of 26 SWG. Eureka wire in ordinary ballast resistance form but provided with bolts through the holes to act as terminals. This, together with one with 2'9" Eureka wire herewith handed to you, will constitute a pair of alternative trial resistances which should be handed to Mr.Elliott previous to his departure on Monday next. The resistance now handed to you should also be provided with bolts to act as terminals.

For Mr.Elliott's information we would say that the value of the resistances are as follows :-

(1) The resistance containing 2'9" 26 SWG. Eureka wire - 2.4 ohms.

(2) The resistance containing 2'1" 26 SWG. Eureka wire - 1.8 ohms.

(3) The resistance containing 1'5" 26 SWG. Eureka wire - 1.2 ohms.

i.e. the resistance at present on the car made up with marble cheeks 1.2 ohms.

Both 23-EX and 24-EX have been initially provided with resistances like (3) causing the least reduction of charge of the three.
