R.{Sir Henry Royce} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} +7510 E2/M23.1.29. 'SS{S. Smith}' DYNAMO DRIVE, & AIR PUMP. X.7100 X.7510 We attach herewith a blueprint of LeC.2831 dealing with a number of points as follows :- (1) LUBRICATION OF DYNAMO DRIVE PINION BUSH. It is suggested this should be carried out with L.P. oil as a supply is closely within reach, and the drawing shews proposed method of applying same. (2) LUBRICATION OF AIR PUMP ECCENTRIC. Having established the correct fit for the eccentric there is no actual complaint of lack of oil but we shew a means of picking up lubricant from the front camshaft bearing which is fed by its own splash collector trough. (3) DYNAMO DRIVE. The drg. shews the application of India 4. dynamo drive to SS.{S. Smith} in which a metal disc internal coupling replaces one of the serrated type. This is not put forward as an immediate alteration but only with a view to providing for the new drive if found desirable. (4) LARGER AIR PUMP. We note Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is asking for a more 'efficient' air pump. We shew on this drg. how a pump of .250" increased bore can be got in. The original drg. is attached to BY's copy of this memo. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
