re: Gearbox - Senior Range.

In reply to your memo Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}6/JH.21.2.41, we would confirm that the following schemes have been incorporated in the seven gearboxes instructed and almost completed:-

PD.477 B.V. Gearbox modified for Wraith 80.
PD.478 Pinion on Reverse Shaft - Wraith 80.
PD.484 Modified 2nd Speed synchromesh - Wraith 80.
PD.494 Strengthened 3rd speed dogs - Wraith 80.
PL.31 Steering column control gear.
PL.43 L.H. Side Change Gear.
PL.65 Revised Gearbox.
PL.79 Vacuum Cylinder and Valve Control.
PL.73 Actuation in Gearbox & Column Control.
PL.105 Riding Control - RH{R. Hollingworth} Side Change.
PL.121 Stiffened Side change cross shaft.
PL.122 Tecalemit Lubrication.
PL.122A Modification to PL.122
PL.220 Revised Column Gear Control.
PL.389 Revised 3rd & 4th Synchro Key.

The two further schemes quoted on Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}6/JH.21.2.41, were issued at a much later date and as we are anxious to complete these boxes, they have not been included.

They are :-

PL.368 8 D.P. 1st speed teeth.
PL.373 Strengthened 2nd speed dogs.

The points raised at the discussion held at Park Leys on Feb. 21st 1941, have been considered as follows :-

(1) The Gearbox as detailed by Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} already has provision for the RH{R. Hollingworth} or LH{Mr Haworth} side change, and the LH{Mr Haworth} column control.

(2) The 9 D.F. gear details are being produced and will be introduced on all future gearboxes.
