In reply to your memo Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}6/JH.21.2.41, we would confirm that the following schemes have been incorporated in the seven gearboxes instructed and almost completed:- PD.477 B.V. Gearbox modified for Wraith 80. PD.478 Pinion on Reverse Shaft - Wraith 80. PD.484 Modified 2nd Speed synchromesh - Wraith 80. PD.494 Strengthened 3rd speed dogs - Wraith 80. PL.31 Steering column control gear. PL.43 L.H. Side Change Gear. PL.65 Revised Gearbox. PL.79 Vacuum Cylinder and Valve Control. PL.73 Actuation in Gearbox & Column Control. PL.105 Riding Control - RH{R. Hollingworth} Side Change. PL.121 Stiffened Side change cross shaft. PL.122 Tecalemit Lubrication. PL.122A Modification to PL.122 PL.220 Revised Column Gear Control. PL.389 Revised 3rd & 4th Synchro Key. The two further schemes quoted on Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}6/JH.21.2.41, were issued at a much later date and as we are anxious to complete these boxes, they have not been included. They are :- PL.368 8 D.P. 1st speed teeth. PL.373 Strengthened 2nd speed dogs. The points raised at the discussion held at Park Leys on Feb. 21st 1941, have been considered as follows :- (1) The Gearbox as detailed by Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} already has provision for the RH{R. Hollingworth} or LH{Mr Haworth} side change, and the LH{Mr Haworth} column control. (2) The 9 D.F. gear details are being produced and will be introduced on all future gearboxes. (continued) | ||
