The half crankshaft period had started to become pronounced, we therefore deemed it necessary to investigate. The cause was loss of poundage, it having dropped from 11 lbs to 5 1/2. The reason being chiefly the highly polished state of the friction surfaces. The condition of the damper was excellent. We fitted washers under the springs, which brought the load up to 10 lbs. With this load the slipper wheel has been refitted.

HYDRAULIC DAMPERS

The dampers are still practically oil tight. There is a ring of oil round the shaft at the gland, but no definite leak. The o.s.F. is perfectly dry. We are trying one without the valve to see whether there is any difference.

CONSUMPTION

We have not up to the present been able to obtain from Paris the correct carburetter to obtain the consumption test as requested.
