RR 238 (150 BKS.) (DB{Donald Bastow - Suspensions} 431-8-12-24) MP 306975 ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. INSTRUCTIONS. To Order No. PD 55 (2) Customer's No. ammeter as a maximum discharge of 13.5 amperes. (6 watt lamps were used in the side and tail positions) The effect of switching on the lamp load, therefore, was an alteration to the volt-ampere characteristic of the charging circuit, such, that the peak output of the dynamo was virtually reduced by about 4 amperes. (3 amperes?) A similar test was made on the bench, using an approximately equal load made up entirely of lamps. In this case however, a decrease in output of only 2.6 amperes was obtained, the corresponding observations being as follows:- Peak output. 17.3 amperes at 13.8 volts Peak output with load on 1.0 " " 15.5 " Load 13.7 amperes. Reduced peak, therefore, 14.7 amperes at 15.5 volts Further observations will be made on cars, fitted with newly set dynamos, in due course. Signed C.A.P.
