MODIFICATIONS TO WRAITH CYL: BLOCK TO FACILITATE CASTING

We have investigated the proposed modifications to MOD.871 as requested in Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/G.1.9.38., and find that the reduction in moulding and coremaking times will effect a saving in factory cost of 3/9d per block.

In addition, deletion of core plugs (including machining of block and fitting of plugs) will provide a further reduction in factory cost of 3/9d giving a total reduction of 7/6d per block.

A charge of approximately £10. 0. 0d. will be involved by alteration to jigs, tools and patterns, which will be recovered after producing 27 chassis due to reduced cost.

It will, therefore, be economical to introduce these modifications on production as soon as can be conveniently arranged.
