-2- Contd. ran for over a month before the rollers required re-oiling as against about one week previously noted on a few occasions. Changes in the weather may account for this, however, as the other bench distributor also operated for two weeks, without the modification on one oiling, during the same period. Further tests will be carried out on the same lines, in order to prove the point. The only hitherto untried feature in the second test on contact points, above mentioned, is the use of a paper dielectric condenser. It is possible that owing to the slight damping in this type due to dielectric hysteresis, there is less destructive effect due to very high frequency oscillatory splashes. Accordingly, it would be instructive to fit a mica condenser to one of the American ignition sets, which is known to work satisfactorily with tungsten points, and see if the contacts fail under this condition.
