-2- (d) Screen Opening Gear. Our tests shew that screen flap when open is attributable to the chain gear not being centrally disposed with respect to the screen. Variations of wind pressure occur as the air currents vary. Because the support is not central the screen is twisted under the wind load to a varying degree proportional to that load. As the air is gusty the screen flaps. One central control or two controls symmetrically disposed about the centre must be provided. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
