X 1819. BATTERY IGNITION - 40/50 CHASSIS. X 3762

We find on the present standard 40/50 Car that the spigot which locates the low tension contact breaker to the Governor Case wears badly. We find on 49-GB Car that this spigot has worn so much that the gap between the contact breaker points can be varied .008" by the slack. On all Repair Cars which come in for overhaul, this complaint is noticed.

At present the spigot formed on the Governor Case is aluminium. We recommend that we should fit a hardened steel bush to run in connection with the bronze contact breaker casing.
