Re: CHASSIS GUL.4 - Mr. A.{Mr Adams} EMBIRICOS
--------------------------------------

The above car has been sent to us by rail from Italy, owing to N°2 connecting rod having fractured and damaged the engine.

We have not been able to ascertain the cause of the trouble. It would appear, however, that N°2 big-end bearing seized, with the resultant failure of the rod.

The big-end bearings show distinct signs of having overheated. The main bearings, however, are in a good condition.

We understand that the car was run on the Autostrada in Italy, but the trouble occurred afterwards and on one of the Italian main roads. The owner of the car will be returning to Paris early next month and we will then obtain more information, and will then send you a full report.

We have ordered from the Works the necessary parts to repair the engine. In the meantime, we shall be glad if you will kindly let us know as soon as possible if we should drill extra and opposite holes in the main journals and crankpins of the crankshaft and machine continuous grooves in the intermediate bearings as per latest Bentley practise.

Sr/VA.

P.S. Total mileage:45.613Kms. Mileage in present owner's hands: 15.600 Kms.
The above car was our Trials car before we sold it to Mr. EMBIRICOS.
