Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY ------------------ ROY{Sir Henry Royce}10/MG26.4.32 ------------------ E2/HP.20.4.32 - Confirming our conversation re above, I would state, the English Steel Corporation are now in a position to supply such Nitralloy type Crankshafts, i.e., in their "DURMO", and I am getting a formal quotation from them for our present standard 25 HP. Crank, as agreed, (a) In DURMO Steel (b) In our present standard Nickel Chrome which will form a suitable basis for comparison, as I understand your "Bensport" Crank details are hardly ready yet. There is little difference in the actual cost of production of the two Steels, but where the extra arises is the additional wear and tear on the Dies and clipping tools in the production of the Stamping itself. Vickers have now had further experience in the working of such Steel, and are putting down additional furnace capacity to deal with the Nitriding of details made in this DURMO Steel.
