x7960. N-W. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Ltd. Br2/WG.{Mr Gill - Financial Director}6.11.31. re Chassis No.58-GN - Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Trials. With reference to your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid{A. J. Lidsey}9/KT.4.11.31 concerning the above car, we found the squeak in the rear axle was due to the boss of the driving flange, G.76870, fouling where it passes through the pinion bearing cap G.77605. The boss of the driving flange was running out of truth approximately .008". This we trued up so that it had clearance in the cap. As you know there is very small clearance between the boss of the flange and the bore of the cap, and the inaccuracy caused it to foul. There were no signs of any damage or faulty assembling. We think it may be considered that we have permanently cured this trouble and that there is no possibility that same will recur. Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} FW | ||
