With reference to your memorandum of April 13th, Mr Wormald and Mr Nadin visited various drop forging plants on the 23rd and 24th of April. Mr Nadin will issue his report immediately.

With reference to the modification of the throttle for the purpose of overcoming the explosions in the silencer, this was fitted up to a carburetter which Mr Platford had taken with him when he started for Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.

The scheme was roughly arranged in the Test Dept. but showed considerable promise of success.

I thought it far preferable for Mr Platford to discuss the matter with you and test it under your observa-
