ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/WJ.19.8.31. IMPROVED PERFORMANCE 25 HP. X5770. Y5771. With a view to confirming the low speed performance of the car on which the recent higher speeds were obtained on Brooklands, we have carried out some acceleration and hill climbing tests the results of which are attached. It will be observed that up to 50 M.P.H. the performance of this car, with its light body, is almost equal to that of a standard P.II, in fact is slightly better with the low depression carburetter. On our two standard test hills a marked improvement in performance is obtained over the standard unit and silencer fitted in the same car. We are repeating these figures with a 12 x 50 axle, as it may be considered desirable to use such a ratio to save the power unit and would almost certainly be preferred with a silent higher easy change third, as on the new gearbox.
