HYDRAULIC DAMPERS. X7520

With reference to R3/M25.3.29. We send you herewith adjusting washers to alter the loads on the front and rear dampers to 50 lbs. up (L.P.) and 100 lbs. down (H.P.), the loads specified in your memo.

We also send you a special spanner to deal with the high pressure valve caps - rear.

The dynamic restrictions can also be removed without a great deal of difficulty.

We have instructed Mr. Hancock to make similar alterations to the 10,000 miles test car.

Our own experience has been that the dynamic restrictions do seem to give the car high speed stability without spoiling the low speed riding.

You will recollect that in Nov. last year you were not altogether pleased with the riding of 14-EX. We then fitted dynamic restrictions front and rear and made the up and down loads almost equal (Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/16.11.28) and in a subsequent memo. you expressed the opinion that it was the best riding car you had tried up to that date.

18-EX car and all other S.S. cars which seemed to please PN.{Mr Northey}, CWB. and others was similarly arranged.

In view of your wire we did not fit the drilled high pressure valve to the 10,000 miles 20 HP. car. We have asked Mr. Hancock to make some tests when the car is handed over to him. We have not found any other means of contd:-
