BENTLEY CHASSIS - RE: DROP IN OIL PRESSURE.

When the oil gauge shows a serious drop in oil pressure as against the figures recommended, in future we must not pack the relief valve to regain the working pressure but refit the main bearings, which under these circumstances will suffer from sinkage, as indicated by the drop in the oil pressure.

This confirms the instruction given over the telephone to GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}

The object of this instruction is to remove the responsibility, which/so far rested at K.{Mr Kilner} to judge /has whether main bearings require taking up or not.

The drop in oil pressure will indicate the danger, and in future when this occurs the policy must be "re-fit the bearings".
