Rolls-Royce, Limited, DERBY. For the attention of Mr. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham. Dear Sirs, On receipt of your letter dated 30th May we checked the position regarding the manufacture of a special set of wheels to suit your requirements. We had intended to suggest to you the wheel as shown on our Drawing No. EX. 7538 having a 3" rim with Spider or centre-piece the same as we supplied you on the previous occasion, but we find that we are unable to obtain rim-stock to the special thickness (.087/.099 thick). We think, therefore, that the best thing we can do would be to use a standard 3.50 rim having spider as shown welded into the rim to give your required offset. We would choose these rims in order to obtain some on the low limits for thickness so that they would be as near to the required thickness as possible and we suggest that the hole dimensions in the spider could be overcome quite effectively by using special nuts. If these suggestions are acceptable it would not involve any tool cost at all. Yours faithfully, KELSEY-HAYES WHEEL COMPANY. LIMITED. A.{Mr Adams} Inglis. A.{Mr Adams} Inglis. Chief Engineer.
