that with these springs its depth should be reduced
to 1.250 deep.

With regard to spring weights. The present
1100 rear spring weighs 78.75 lbs, the 1050 front spring
40.25 lbs. The improvement in spring manufacture and
the hydraulics together have increased spring life
enormously. The Repair Dept. report that only one Phantom
front spring has broken in service since hydraulic were
fitted. We have been getting over 50 hours life on
front springs on the bumper. We have never broken a
Phantom II spring, front or rear, on the road. We therefore
consider that we should be justified in asking the
spring makers to save as much of the weight theoretically
unnecessary with the present spring as possible.

It is unfortunate that we cannot get the car
down as much at the front as the back.
