Lord Herbert Scott. H06/EBN21/12/25. NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I CHASSIS. WHEEL CARRIERS. As desired, I have again gone into the question of the position of the side carriers, and I have consulted Mr.Munday and Mr.Robins of Barker's, as I had previously done on 16.6.25. We are still of the opinion that if possible it would be best to have one position of carrier to be alike for all columns B, C, and D, and for all wings short or long - and we again suggest that the centre of the spare wheel should be 5¼" forward from front of dash; 4½" high above the top of chassis frame; and 10¾" distance out from face of chassis side member to centre of tyre. We consider it preferable for the wheel to be placed with its hub cap free away from the chassis, not next to the chassis. The bottom of the wheel would be supported by a well in the wing, which would necessitate a dip in the step bracket. H.O. | ||
