Re. SERVO EFFICIENCY.

X5370.

It is interesting to note that during the dismantling of the servo on Chassis N.141 just delivered from the Works to the Test Dept, the following features were found.

(1) The outer edge of the fabrics was fouling the drum. The fabrics having not been trimmed off concentric with the plate.

(2) A piece of fabric was found jammed between the drum surface and the driving flange throwing the drain .015" out of alignment.

(3) The recess turned in the rear plate for draining any excess oil away was choc-a-bloc with grease as also were the drain holes. This apparently was caused by overcharging the ballrace with grease in the assembly.

Servo efficiency cannot be maintained with the above conditions.
