47400 H31 To WOP. From Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Rear End of "WGM" Chassis Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}5/BEB.3.29 Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} and Luggage Carrying Capacity. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EH. C.C. Referring to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}18/E15.2.29 and the notes attached thereto, also the discussion which took place on this matter at the Derby conference on the 8th, in a telegram received from R.{Sir Henry Royce} he says that he agrees side wheel carriers for certain customers. We are of course pleased to see that R.{Sir Henry Royce} has agreed to two wheels at the side in special instances where people demand luggage accommodation on the lines of illustrations 3 and 4 on N.Sch.2799. I understood when at Derby that very little if any work had been done on the side wheel carriers for "WGM", and I presume that, in view of the above, the designing and testing of a suitable wheel/carrier will be proceeded with immediately so that it can be available in time for the production chassis.
