X1002 To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}12/KW.21.11.35. Since writing Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}11/KW.21.11.35 (attached) I have had a conversation with Sr. of Paris on the telephone. He has been working continuously in connection with the accident in France. Pattinson has been taken to Paris and he has got a bad fracture of his arm and they are having to operate. As regards the driver, Sr. does not think there is any chance of him getting away without jail. His view at the moment is that with their best endeavours they may possibly get away with a month's imprisonment. It is possible that if they can plead the first offender's case that under the French law, although you are sentenced to a term of imprisonment, you do not actually serve it unless you commit another offence. They are doing all they possibly can to keep Rolls-Royce out of it. Actually the car is registered in my name. We are satisfied that Sr. is doing all he possibly can. He expects that it will be several months before the case comes before the courts. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
