To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} c. to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} X7 320. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}5/KT.10.2.31. RE LEFT HAND CHASSIS. We have had a complaint of the rusting up of the change speed mechanism in the tower of the above cars while standing in the Works, also the possibility of dropping the reverse plunger into the gearbox when dismantling the tower. We have examined 25-EX and find that the mechanism above has not been affected to the extent that it is noticed with the Test Dept. chassis. We however, think it would be advisable to cadmium plate the whole of the steel parts of the change speed mechanism to avoid the rusting due to condensation. RIC, is getting out a scheme to prevent the dropping of the reverse plunger which we will advise you of in due course. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
