Messrs. The Dunlop Rubber Co.

Birmingham.

Dear Sirs,
For the attention of F.B.Jones Esq.

With reference to FBJ/FHC/6 of the 1st.inst. we have tested the rubbers which you sent us and find that they are very consistent and the rating is approximately what we require.

We are very pleased with the consistency, and if this can be maintained, we think that it will overcome our present difficulty.

We should be obliged if you would arrange to supply any further rubbers you make in this No.6. compound.

We should like to point out that the free length of the shortest rubber amongst the batch of No.6. compound that you sent is .038" greater than the drawing size. The variation in the free length of this batch is .008". We should be obliged if you could maintain the free length as accurately as possible as in these samples this appears to be a greater source of error than the rubber rating.

Until No.6. compound rubbers are available, we are carrying on with the weaker rubbers as indicated in our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/LG of the 22nd.ult. Owing to a misunderstanding during the writers absence from the Works, it was stated in BY2/G of the 31st.ult. that these weaker rubbers would be useless. This however is not the case and we are carrying on with them.

We should be obliged if you would let us know how soon you can give us delivery of the No.6 mix rubbers.

Yours faithfully,
