To BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} from EH. X. 3637. X. 3451. RE 20 GALLON PETROL TANK. I should like to raise the following points in connection with this tank. The present tank we use on the car, if filled right up to the top, will hold about 18 1/2 gallons. With the extra length of the petrol tank to suit the new shock absorbers adds about half-a-gallon to the capacity which makes it 19 gallons. It does not appear to me that the 5% increase in tank capacity warrants redesigning the whole tank, making new dies for end-plates and altering most of the pieces on the tank. I suggest that nothing less than a 20% increase in the tank capacity is worth having. I also think that whilst we are redesigning the tank we ought also to bear in mind the American requirements of a division in the tank especially as there is no doubt that it is an excellent scheme for all cars. | ||
