W/P - Sr. X1265- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}30/KW.11.11.35. Many thanks for your note re the Coatalen engine. Herewith is a drawing of a more effective scraper ring which should prove effective in reducing the oil consumption of L.B.B. cars which are giving trouble. It is applicable only to Aerolite pistons, but the Repair Dept. are having some rings produced for the old type fully split skirt pistons which will act in the same way. Incidentally I should like a note on your figures whether the overoiling is as bad with the Aerolite pistons as it is with the standard fully split type.
