Test report on side springs, steering pivots, and front springs.

The crack occured at the point where the top flange commen-ces to spread out in a straight taper to the spring rest. It would be advantageous to make this taper slower and longer so that it would extend further along the axle. The test is still running.

Steering Pivots F.3783/4. - X.168.

These pivots are experimental and differ from the present standard 2700 type in that they are lighter in the t section, thicker at the root of the stub and are recessed between the journals.

One of them is running on the reversal test rig and is giving excellent results on this particular test, having run over 90 hours, which is over 10 hours longer than the previous test. We have also got a pair running on the bumping machine and up to the present they have run 3 hrs 50 mins.

Front Springs with solid eyes. X.888.

A pair of springs F.4141/2 are being tested on the bumping machine and promise good results. They have run nearly 4 hours and are still running. They are the type
