Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/SM4/L91213. Sheet. 2. "I think it advisable that the stub should be "thickened up at the root. It also appears "to me that the U section is heavier than is "necessary and it might have the effect of "strengthening the whole job if this were "lightened, as the strength in the whole thing "would then be more uniform." 16/8/13. Mr Royce wrote you (see R9/P16813) confirming Mr Haldenby's suggestion and asking Mr Day to make the necessary modifications to strengthen the stub at the root. 20/8/13. Mr Day asked for copies of all reports referred to and these were handed to him the same day. It now appears that pivots have been standardized for 27/2800 series without this strengthening modification having been made. Over 200 are completed and a further 200 nearly completed, and the matter would appear to be extremely serious now that Mr Haldenby states that he does not consider it absolutely safe to fit these on to cars. We shall be glad to have your report on this matter. p. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} | ||
