B-56-BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}

Tests in Paris with Sr.

Sr. tried the Bentley yesterday against a 2-seater V-8 Ford, and both the top gear acceleration and also through the gears, the Bentley pulled away all the time, so that at the end of half a mile the Ford was at least 200 yards behind.

He also tried it against a Bentley, B-5-EJ, belonging to M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Embericos, which has a 7 to 1 cyl. head and a total weight of 30 cwts. On top gear he got away easily, but on the gears there was not so much in it and to-day on an all out blind could just not overtake them.

This morning we went to the Trappe road in company with a type 57 Bugatti, 3.3 litres, and double camshaft. On top gear the Bugatti was left easily and on the gears it was quite definitely left by the Bentley.

During the afternoon the same tests were carried out against the latest 12 cyl. Lincoln, which put up no fight at all either on the gears or on top gear, though this car only weighs 30 cwts. 3 qrs. and is alleged to develop 115 HP.

We tried the Bentley over 2 kls. from a standing start. The road was wet and a heavy side wind, the time being 1 min. 3 secs. Over the same stretch the Bugatti did 1 min. 4 secs and the Delage did 1 min. 5 secs., both cars being run under good conditions.

We are hoping to get a 5 litre Mercedes, the Delage and a Hotchkiss to-morrow.
