COPY. X766 Hotel des Voyageurs, Geneva SWITZERLAND. 27.8.24. Mr. Hives, from GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} Received your letter of the 25th.inst. We are not fitting shutters to Mr. Reverdin's car. It has been left over because Mr. Schmidt favours louvres, and says they are better. Mr. Schmidt left here last Saturday for London and was going to try to get London to agree to louvres for over here. He returns this Saturday. Mr. Reverdin left it open until I got back to England, and talked it over with you. In any case I take it that the Firm will have to pay for this job. If shutters are fitted it does not mean new sides to Bonnet, and very little painting. With louvres, two new sides will be wanted and painted. In the report I sent to you re. this car, it does not appear to be very effective to cooling when the bonnet was open and I do not think that until the radiator is dropped more, making the total length more, will the cooling be sufficient. I do not believe making this matrix deeper will do. On testing the wind velocity on this car, I was much surprised to find that the velocity was double at the bottom to that at the top - also 1/2" or so of the fan blades is below the matrix. The pipes I brought out for this job are much larger in dia. than those fitted to the car. I am not aware whether these pipes have been enlarged on later models (Goshawks). contd :- | ||
