GOSHAWK FAN DRIVE. X4237 X3522

On No.7.Goshawk the fan is being driven by belt from the dynamo drive. It cancels the use of brake to keep this drive from rattling, and is considered by RG.{Mr Rowledge} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and myself a definite improvement. This is not a very serious matter, but should go ahead at once if the advantage of the first model is proved in a few more applications, because it seems an inexpensive way of making the engine gears more permanently silent.

Since writing the above I notice on No.4. Goshawk that the dynamo drive is not satisfactory when hot at slow speed when running light. If the above modification is really a cure IT IS MOST URGENTLY NEEDED, therefore, confirm and urge for special permission. I agree.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
