Material change from G5SC to Neoprene Fabric for petrol pump diaphragms.

In reply to your memo. 17.6.39. we are unable to trace any reason for the letters ET stamped on recent pumps. From your information we are unable to obtain any more G5SC material and are obliged to use Neoprene Fabric (two layers) instead. Owing to the fact that this material swells in petrol we are fitting a fabric annular ring .020" thick behind the diaphragm that is between the diaphragm and the pot. This prevent the rollers being trapped by the Neoprene. In no case should the Neoprene diaphragm be fitted to existing pumps unless the packing ring is also fitted. These rings are being supplied by the S.U. Co. with the diaphragm assemblies. The letters N.C. will replace G5SC where this is done. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B.
