S/W. {Sales / Derby Works} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Copy to:- EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} X4118 CWB8/GM/21.2.28. Re: Chassis No. GXL-38. P. Barry, Esq. I have had a letter from Mr. Barry from the South of France with reference to the above car. In general he is highly delighted with it, but has found the following faults. 1. The oil gauge needle has fallen off. 2. The spare wheel falls off every 10 miles with the result that eventually the disc and spindle were lost, and it was only after some considerable search that the wheel itself was found. I can remember one or two other isolated cases of complaint of the spare wheel working loose from the back carrier, but do not believe that it is usual. Is there any particular cause that you know of to which this can be attributed, as it is obviously a most unsatisfactory situation? As far as can be gathered from the letter, it does not loosen itself in any way over normal roads, but on the bad roads it shakes loose almost immediately. CWB. | ||
