J 1263 Experimental Department 1st. February 1937. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}15/AP. The S.U. Carburetter Company, East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM. For the attention of Mr. Leslie Kent. Dear Sirs, We thank you for the oil silk which we will try between the G.5. diaphragms. I am returning to you today one high pressure pump EX.3. This pump is to be fitted to a Phantom III. which is going to the Tropics. We wish you to fit this pump with new diaphragms, of G.5. material and modify the armature .005" and reduce the valve lift unless these modifications have already been carried out. We will also require 6 G.5. diaphragm assemblies for this pump (with the long spindle and altered armature) to be carried as spares. I am afraid this is another rush job and we would be much obliged if you could let us have the pump as soon as possible and the diaphragm assemblies before the end of this week. With regard to your letter about the reduce hole in the pole piece, it sounds quite promising, as we do not intend to dispense with the fibre washers. I will try and get over to see you on Wednesday if this is convenient and see what progress you are making. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
