(a) Full Throttle power curve at 2500, 2750, 3000 R.P.M. up and down.

(b) Gate power curve, 2250, 2500, 2750, 3000 R.P.M. up or down only.

These conditions were successfully complied with and the results are appended.

The rated power of the engine taken at the normal R.P.M. of the engine 2750, is now 570 B.H.P. as obtained from the Gate power curve. The Full Throttle power curve is up to requirements.

"Gating" the engine necessitated a slight adjustment of the position of the economiser valve of the carburetter, this valve being allowed to start earlier, in order to slightly richen the mixture for the revised take off powers. This results in the full throttle consumptions shewing rather a higher figure than our previous results.

The consumptions are not excessive, and are not detrimental to the running of the engine, and the throttled positions, over the cruising range, are not interfered with, good economy will still be maintained, as shewn by the results appended.

The slow running speed is set to 320 R.P.M. and the adjustments are locked in the same manner as on Kestrel 119 engine, which has shewn excellent results in flight, without alteration to the test bed settings.

The engine will accelerate perfectly from all throttle positions down to the lowest speed, the accelerating pump functioning as on Kes. 119, no modifications having been made, as it would be policy to obtain flight results of this engine operating as a full throttle engine before modifying owing to the special fuel and different conditions of take off.

The log book of this engine is to be endorsed as per A.I.D. note J/HP.6.1.33.

"The running time of this engine is limited to a total of 10 hours only up to the gate position of 600 B.H.P. at 2500 R.P.M. plus a maximum of 1 hour at full throttle.

The control shaft of the engine is marked to shew the throttle position for 500 B.H.P. at 2500 R.P.M.
