| contd :- -2- This is what the Paris Depot are doing almost daily to keep customers in France reasonably happy. With the complaints such as banging in the exhaust and uncertain throttle position, there are 350 approx. cars on the road with the plain bearings in the shaft operating the throttle. There were also 500 aprox. cars delivered with the original type noisy silencer. Both of these features we know increase the tendency for bangs in the exhaust. As regards the jumpiness when running at low speeds. This we assume is due to the autovac effect. This same fault existed on all Silver Ghost fitted with 4-wheel brakes. The recently standardised elbow definitely reduces this trouble by 50%. There are 800 or 900 cars on the road which have not this elbow fitted. The springing troubles on the Phantom are of course identical to the Silver Ghost. Here again, alterations have been made in the method of calculating weights of springs which has reduced the complaints but unfortunately there are approx. 700 cars on the road which are sprung to the old standard.
