Contd. -4- EFC1/T15.5.24. On the first high rate discharge through an invariable external resistance of .100 ohm, the initial amperes were 92 only. On the second low rate discharge through a resistance of 1.17 ohms the ampere-hours realised were 48.1. Latterly further high and low rate discharges were taken. In the former case, the initial amperes were 95. In the latter case, discharging through an invariable external resistance of 1.80ohms the ampere-hours realised were 54.6. A copy of the graphical record of this discharge is attached. The curves of high rate discharges will be found on the photostat sheet attached, and are poor in comparison with the weight of the battery 93 1/4 lbs., the results of the smaller and still later battery being relatively better. Alklum 50 ampere-hour Battery. This battery was received in a charged condition on 13.2.24 and was put through our routine tests. On the first low rate discharge through an external resistance of 1.80 ohms, 43.7 ampere-hours were realised. On the high rate discharge through .100 ohm the initial amperes were 95. On the second low rate discharge through the same resistance 1.80 ohms, 48.9 ampere-hours were realised, and a graphical record of the second of these discharges is attached. Subsequently another high rate discharge was taken through .100 ohms, the initial amperes this time being 98. This battery is made of suitable dimensions to fit the present standard RR. 40/50 battery box. Though the high rate results are a relative improvement on the Alklum 60 ampere-hour battery, it is not considered that they are sufficiently good to justify placing the battery on a chassis. For convenience the various high and low rate discharge results are tabulated below:- Contd. | ||
