1109. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}4/BJ. 23rd April, 1937. The Renold and Coventry Chain Co.Ltd., Renold Works, Didsbury, Manchester. Dear Sirs, As you know, we have for some time been using one of your chains, on an experimental overhead camshaft engine. Details of this duplex chain are as follows. No.114036 - .375 pitch - 102 pitches. We would be obliged if you could advise us on the following points re chain stretch. (1) Do you apply any method of initial stretch to new chains before delivery. (2) The chain we have used on our experimental engine has run 160 hours. We would like to know how much the chain has stretched since new. (3) Can you suggest the best method by which the amount of stretch can be measured. Yours sincerely, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE, LIMITED. | ||
