and side slipping to left, throttled, but on side slipping to the right, throttled, the engine became slightly rough but acceleration was excellent when still side slipping, and the throttle was opened to full.

On a glide, when the throttle was suddenly closed, there was a few pops in the exhaust but this disappeared and the engine was very good during the glide. R.P.M. 1100.

At 10,000 ft. very little A/C. could be used but the drop was even all round. There was no popping on any one side.

The water temperature was lowered and the engine did not shew any signs of distress at any time.

The foregoing tests cover the complaints received at different times regarding the performance of the "F" engine ("Vee" carbs) during flight, and the inside air intake on this machine has generally improved the running and the pilot, who has had considerable experience with "F" engines, reported this one to be the best he had handled.

We are now trying to have a Flowmeter installed in this machine in readiness for the new carburettors which are to be tried out in this machine.
