BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL E2/M2.10.28. Copy to BJ. EFC. HSF. DR. EAC.10. SWITCHBOX. X7730 "shewing the above. We send you herewith drawing LeC. 2597., The arrangement of the contacts on the ignition and charging switch has been modified in accordance with R's recent correspondence, whereby the dynamo field only is cut out when the switch is moved from M.B. & C. to M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} & B. Regarding the magneto contacts the moving segment on the switch shaft has been definitely earthed by a brush provided expressly for the purpose, and makes contact with the magneto brush in the OFF position of the switch, and with another brush in the M.B., and M.B.& C. position, this other brush being optionally connected to the magneto by a tumbler switch. In this way the engine can be run on battery ignition only at will. We are expecting Derby to find a suitable flush fitting tumbler switch which will have a facia plate on the front of the instrument board engraved magneto ON - OFF. Preferably the switch will be broken when the lever handle is in the raised position - i.e. magneto ON. We would draw your attention to some modifications which it is desired to make to the terminal connections and cover at rear of switchbox. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
