[Handwritten: X.4159] Re Petrol Gauges. - For Present Standard Chassis to Customers' Special Order. [Handwritten and struck through: X.3896] As you are aware Mr. Royce has in hand a Petrol Gauge of his own design, but some time must necessarily elapse before this is perfected and standardised. In the meantime and in order to meet the continued requests from London for a gauge of some sort, will you please complete the arrangements you have made with Messrs. Simms for the correct marking of their vertical type of Magnetic Gauge to suit our tank, and advise By, that this is the type to be used where required for the present. It is not intended that we should adopt this as a standard gauge but only for the purpose of meeting the special requirements of customers, pending the time when our own gauge shall be perfected.
