It is a fact that they are consuming much more oil than they did previously. One of our excellent customers Mr. Bourlon, who is a very good friend of the firm's, has given me precise information on this subject. He considers that, since the modification, his car is consuming 2 litres of oil more that it did previously. In other words, after a run which he is in the habit of doing, he now has to add 3 litres of oil, whereas previously 1 litre was sufficient. He also confirms that he did not exceed 3500 r.p.m. at any time. I am not sure of the mileage he covers in this particular run, but will find it out. In any case, this is of little interest. The main point is the difference in oil consumption. I have recommended him to use double XL during the summer, as I find that this not only maintains a better oil pressure, but also reduces the oil consumption of the Bentley considerably, specially in hot weather.
